Truecount Simplifies Item-Level RFID for Retailers

PrintTruecount Simplifies Item-Level RFID for Retailers

Truecount Corp., a Dorset, Vt.-based developer of RFID software for the retail industry, said it introduced an in-line tagging option in its RFID software. It allows users to tag items at multiple key points within the supply chain — including the manufacturing source, point of shipping, at the distribution center or store level. Once applied, Truecount’s RFID software provides maximum visibility into the movement of items in real time to their final destination: the consumer.

The in-line tagging feature helps manufacturers meet retail compliance mandates for large-scale rollouts by their clients, Truecount said. The software monitors performance upstream to help identify inefficiencies, allowing the solution to start the “gravy train” of benefits rolling more quickly for Truecount customers.

The development recently was showcased at the RFID Journal LIVE! event held in Orlando, Fla. Zander Livingston, Truecount’s CEO, pointed out that tagging at the store level could suit some business models. However, in almost all cases, the further up the supply chain the RFID tag is applied, the more benefits accrue to all players.

“Thus, the need for in-line tagging,” he said. “It provides a platform that will allow introductory-level projects the flexibility to tag at multiple locations in order to capture as much ROI and advantages as possible from the start.”
